Cake Decorator

Dawson Co-op invites applications for the position of Cake Decorator (full- or part-time) to join our team at our Food Store located in Dawson Creek, British Columbia.

Reporting to the Bakery Manager, this position is responsible for decorating the cakes and baked goods produced within the Bakery Department.

Key Job Responsibilities:
• Come to work with a positive and professional approach and attitude
• Be dependable for all scheduled shifts
• Provide outstanding service, information and assistance to customers in a manner which will meet or exceed their requirements and expectations
• Promote the sale of merchandise through eye catching and organized displays
• Prepare and decorate cakes and desserts that meets quality and inventory standards
• Demonstrate creativity and attention to detail to bring cake designs to life
• Be proficient with various cake decorating tools and ingredients
• Ensure proper cleaning and sanitization of all working areas and equipment
• Complete cake orders and other required tasks efficiently, meeting all deadlines
• Collaborate with Bakery manager to produce new recipes and cake design ideas
• Ensure case temperatures are monitored and kept within acceptable ranges
• Monitor and minimize spoilage within the department
• Adhere to written performance expectations and standards
• Adhere to all Dawson Co-operative Union policies and procedures
• Adhere to all Dawson Co-operative Union health and safety standards, per the Health and Safety manual
• Plan for self development and take initiative to improve own knowledge, skills and abilities
• Other duties as assigned

Working Conditions:
• Based at our Dawson Creek Food Store
• Requires frequent interaction and follow through with Customers, Supervisors, Team Leaders and Team Members

Qualifications:
• Minimum of grade 12 education
• Culinary or Fine Arts education considered an asset
• Previous years of experience in the baking industry an asset
• Artistic and creative
• Positive and results oriented attitude
• Excellent time management skills
• Motivated self-starter
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Compensation and Benefits
• $20.15 an hour
