Flipping Into 50 Years: Our Fabulous Pancake Breakfast!
August 13, 2025

On August 9, Dawson Co-op celebrated our milestone 50th Pancake Breakfast in true community style — with great food, great music, and even greater company.

Guests were treated to amazing live music from local talents Barb and Ian Munro and Penny Goulet, creating the perfect soundtrack to a morning of laughter, conversation, and celebration.

Our dedicated servers included Co-op Board President Darren Shankel, along with Directors Wayne Ezeard, Judy Clavier, JJ Fellers, Josh Anderson, and Sasha deBakker — each bringing their smiles (and impressive pancake-flipping skills!) to the event.

This year’s charity recipient was the Dawson Creek Literacy Society, who went above and beyond providing all of the set up, clean up, and assistance throughout the breakfast. Their hard work made the event run seamlessly, and we are proud to support their incredible work in our community.

The morning couldn’t have been more perfect — beautiful weather, not too hot and not too cool — and was made extra special by the visit of our Rodeo Royalty:

Codi Wilson – Miss Rodeo Canada

Clara Hotte – Miss Teepee Creek Stampede

Ally Naylor – Longhorn Ambassador

To honour this golden milestone, the current Dawson Co-op Board recreated a historic photo from our very first Pancake Breakfast in 1975 — a wonderful way to celebrate how far we’ve come while keeping our traditions alive.

From the first pancake flipped to the last cup of coffee poured, our 50th Pancake Breakfast was a true celebration of community spirit. Thank you to everyone who joined us — here’s to the next 50 years of tradition, togetherness, and good eats!
