Meaningful Milestones and Thoughtful Dialogue - AGM 2025

Held May 14 at Co-op Mercer Hall, Ovintiv Events Centre, Dawson Creek.

Thank you to all members who attended the Dawson Co-op Annual General Meeting on May 14. While attendance was modest, those who joined us contributed to a productive and engaging evening rooted in co-operative values.

The meeting was chaired by Board President Darren Shankel, who guided the proceedings with professionalism and care as members reviewed the past year and looked to the future.

CEO Rod Hillary presented a report on Dawson Co-op’s 2024 performance, highlighting several key achievements. The major renovation of our food store was completed on time and on budget, thanks to strong project management and member support. Rod also addressed the cybersecurity event that occurred during the year, noting that it was handled quickly and efficiently by Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL), with no vendor or customer data compromised. Rod also proudly shared that Dawson Co-op was named 2024 Business of the Year in Dawson Creek, a recognition that reflects the strength of our team and our continued commitment to the community.

Finance Manager Armun Maygoni delivered an overview of the finances, with Jaron Neufeld, our auditor from Eclipse LLP, in attendance. A few members posed thoughtful questions during the meeting, and we’re pleased to report they were answered thoroughly and to the members’ satisfaction.

This year, there was no director election, as two board positions were open and two qualified individuals stepped forward. We welcome Josh Anderson (back) and Wayne Ezeard (back) to the Dawson Co-op Board of Directors!

A heartfelt moment of the evening was the Board’s farewell to longtime board member Gordon Parslow, who is retiring after over 35 years of service. His contributions to Dawson Co-op have been immense, and we’re grateful that Gordon will continue to lend his time and knowledge as our volunteer archivist and historian.
